My Older Brah

There have been a few people who have influenced me throughout my life. The person that stands out the most would have to be my older brother, Jason. I looked up to my older brother as much as any other younger brother would. Back when I was in 4th grade and he was in 8th, I used to always want to hang out with both him and his friends. I thought he was so cool and so smart. I looked up to him and he looked out for me. I can recall a time when one of the older neighborhood kids, that I used to play with, shot me in the leg with a BB gun; I started crying and once my brother was aware of the incident, he gave that kid one of the worst atomic wedgies ever issued on a human being. Not only that, but he did so in front of the entire neighborhood. My brother got me into the music I listen to today, which is a lot of hip hop. He showed me some of the real artists that are in hip hop. I became obsessed with not only hip hop, but music in general. I grew up with a pair of headphones on my head and a pair of addidas on my feet. In High School I switched over to the rock scene, considering the friends I had at the time. Everything from dyed hair to painted nails, from System of a down and Nirvana to Incubus and even Blink 182. My brother thought I was crazy and reminded me of all the good that was in hip hop, along with another close friend at the time, who did the same. Now all I listen to is Metallica, System of a down, Limp Bizkit and a whole lot of hip hop. As I got older I began to influence my brother and his interests. I got him hooked on some rock as well as UFC (Mixed Martial Arts). I started making little hip hop beats on this music making program about two years ago, and after I finished every single beat, I couldn’t wait to show my brother and get his opinion. He would be as honest and truthful as can be. Everything he showed me didn’t always appeal to me but some things I just grasped on to more and more as I got older. I’m crazy about basketball and video games possibly because of him. My older brother has influenced me for better and for worse but the bottom line is that I am thankful and happy to have an older brother, especially one who showed me some pretty cool stuff growing up.
