All right. If I were the president of the United States, what would I do? To be honest, I would completely relinquish the title and its responsibilities. I’m much more of a sit back, relax, go with the flow kind of gal. I’d prefer to watch someone else make the mistakes, thank you.
Actually, the concept of that is quite interesting. I’d rather not be the president, because I could easily be turned into just a figurehead, not a person with actual power. My power could be taken away from me.
What I would do is I would be the man behind the mask, the person steering the impressive ship: the puppetmaster of the president.
Now, I know that sounds pretty evil, I must agree. However, I think of it this way: who’d you rather blame, the smart guy or the dumb guy? I’m pretty smart if I do say so myself, but should I happen to make a mistake, as grave or indifferent as it may be, I’d rather not take the fall. A pretty face can say the words I’d tell them to, and even though I myself subscribe to a policy of “don’t shoot the messenger”, I’m not so sure the rest of America does as well.
I would just change the rules of ethics so that it would be okay for people in high places (such as myself) to choose a person to take the fall for his or her self. I know that if I had someone to take the blame for all the bad stuff I’ve done, my life would certainly be easier. It’d be like bringing the caste system of India to the US. Since some people pretty much do that anyway, why not make it an official tradition of this fine nation?
Don’t like this? Don’t point your fingers at me, let someone else take the blame for asking the question… hmm…
(mmm, satire.)
