Media's Middle Finger
Media is our life, and to have some uptight conservative idiots attempt to control that is just downright wrong. Perhaps the most annoying thing that could come about government-controled media is that it’s never always just and often blown out of proportion. If I were president, I would have all media control handed over to the distributers and stop the governments unnecessary intervention in the media world. Mainly this is an issue with me because one aspect of media had gotten unnecessary controversy in recent years: Video Games. New media is always the one to endure prejudice from the conservatives. This always leads to propaganda such as video games causing violence in children, which is unfounded and in most cases, quite the opposite. I’m a game developer, or soon will be, and I have no aspirations to make family friendly games. I’ve always been one to cast the proverbial middle finger in the face of social norms and conservative ideas. So in my future, I will have to endure that unjust controversy while peddle my mature-rated games to the public masses. Some of you might feel that the government has the right idea, but in the end, they don’t. I was fortunate enough to sit in on a U.S. representatives session a few years back on a trip to D.C. where the politicians were talking about the danger of video games to children. And what made me made the most mad is when they accused the game industry, who too was at the session, of tragic and violent events with young people, mainly Columbine. Video Games as a whole is a form of art to me, and with all new forms of art, it’s judge in ignorance instead of in understanding. So in since the government fails to understand media as a whole, they should have no power over it. And as a president, that would be a plan I would enact instantly.

I totally agree. It's pretty silly the government blames so much on video games, but they love to point fingers.
