Gothic Peacekeeper

I was sitting on the bus minding my one business, mainly because it’s better that way with all the odd people who come in and out of them. But on this particular day there was a guy sitting on the other side of the bus from me dressed in classic Emo fashion. He wore all black, had numerous piercings, chains hanging virtually from everywhere, and an outrageous hairstyle. I noticed that he was writing on sheets of paper and whispering to himself. I ignored it after a while, because it wasn’t my business. A few minutes later, he goes into to this small, quiet rage and throws his pen down on the ground and rips up his sheet of paper, and looks outside the window as the bus goes along. I’m at this point thinking to myself that there’s something seriously wrong with this guy if he’s dressed like this and throwing into a fit. As I focused my attention away from this, he takes out a new sheet of paper and begins writing while verbally speaking out what he’s recording down on the paper. Even though he’s whispering to himself, it would be easy to listen to what he’s saying if it wasn’t for the group of girls talking to each other extremely loudly behind me. After a short while, the girls leave and the bus becomes unsurprisingly quiet. At this point I have completely forgotten about the Emo guy until I hear his whispering. I couldn’t full make it out over the sound of the outside background noise, but what I heard was what was surprising. I heard some words like peace, life, love, and nature. Now I thinking to myself that someone dressed the way he is writing of positive and hippy like things is highly unusual, but I can’t help but think about the side of people we never see. I begin thinking of how people where masks to hide themselves from the eyes of society, and wonder why did that guy hide his inner most thoughts behind a contradictory masks.

  1. Great title for the post. Most people would probably assume the guy would be writing words like: Suicide, death, darkness, depression, etc. It was probably a love letter or something. I'm not sure.
